Here, we will explore our land to find out some of India’s most famous musicians whose music is as refreshing as their personalities. Let us have a look:

Anoushka Shankar

Like father, like daughter. Anoushka Shankar is one of the leading music composer and a Sitar player in World Music. She studied Indian classical music from the age of 9 from her father and guru, the legendary Ravi Shankar. She became an established classical Sitarist by the age of twenty, exploring and mixing Indian classical music with various genres of flamenco, jazz, electronic and Western classical music. Among her allocates, she has been nominated thrice for the Grammy awards and was the youngest and first female, recipient of a House of Commons Shield from the British House of Parliament in 1999.

Mohini Dey

From Zakir Hussain to AR Rahman, Mohini Dey handles the lower set of strings with style and elegance. She first picked up the bass at a tender age of 3, and since then, there have been no stopping her. She has been featured on Forbes list of Influencing Women under 30. And she has just reached 20. Talk about achievement! A Prodigy!

Tipriti is the front-woman of the Shillong-based Blues band, Soulmate. She is a classic mix of style and talent. It is a dreamer, a poet and a hippie has been entwined to one soul. Soulmate has played all over India and abroad too.  Her voice can instantly transport you to the picturesque North East with her bluesy voice and music.

Punk Rockers from the North East, Vinyl Records have rocked their way to the hearts of the people. Currently based in New Delhi, they are one of the most sought after bands in India. Their music is inspired by a lot of post-punk music from the 60-70s era.
