Usher in the winter wind at these venues in Delhi

Usher in the winter wind at these venues in Delhi

For a form of music to thrive, three elements are necessary: audiences, musicians and venues. Delhi has found all three. With many non-commercial venues, a growing community of jazz enthusiasts, Sufi lovers and all other experimental musicians, Delhi has developed a distinctive music community, unlike traditional favorites like Mumbai and Kolkata. A mélange of cultures, Delhi has all the valid reasons to be the hub of some enthralling music. Below is the list of places in Delhi where play some kickass music is played.

The Piano Man Jazz Club, Safdarjung

This place is truly bliss for any Jazz enthusiast. Founded in September 2015 by a Fulbright music scholar, folks here take their music very seriously; even the owner himself plays the piano several times. At the entrance, the stage is visible,  and right above it is the distinctive chandelier made of trumpets. One word of caution, though: If you are in mood to chit-chat with friends, then it’s better if you vacate this place by 9 PM.

Junkyard Cafe, CP

A gig spot, they host gigs on most Wednesdays and have special performances on other days as well. One thing unconventional about this place is that they have a genre-free music policy that plays rock, techno and Latino to a wide menu. They also have an elevated stage area.

Hard Rock Cafe, Saket

A list of cool places for music just can be complete without the mention of Hard Rock Cafe, can it? Grab a beer, unwind yourself, while scintillating live music plays on.

Bandstand, Aurobindo Market

Patrons can let their hair down while listening (and watching) some of the biggest artists from India. Bandstand has been host to acts from all over India and is currently becoming popular with international visitors as well.
