Shiva Valley: The Temple of Trance

Shiva Valley: The Temple of Trance

If you love electronic/trance music and beaches of Goa, then in the southern part of Anjuna beach (North Goa) lies your heaven. The places are called 'Curlie’s' and 'Shiva Valley Nightclub', both of which are located nearby the Anjuna Flea Market. These “clubs” holds the centre of night life and the psychedelic scene in this part of the Indian Ocean coastline. On most days, these would not be any different from some other shack, but come Tuesday night, (during the season - from October till March) Shiva Valley turns into ‘boiling point', because of the regular and extremely popular club party which is conducted here every year. It morphs into a hotbed of activity for trancers. Some of the world’s top trance DJ’s frequent Shiva Valley to create magical nights that are hard to forget. It can get a bit difficult to find your way around, but you can look a few signages or just ask people for directions to shacks.

In order to reach Shiva Valley, you will have to trek to Anjuna Base Camp from the foothills of its parking area. While trekking, you will hear many languages and accents, ranging from Italian to Malayalam. Once you emerge out of the densely palm tree-lined street, you will see the twin trance shacks on Anjuna beach, throbbing away to glory.

The “Shiva Valley” is one of the oldest shacks in Goa with relaxing and liberal atmosphere. This is what makes this place popular among both; the already few representatives of hippie culture and the other representatives of new alternative youth subcultures. Among guests and visitors of the club you can see a lot of Israelis, which has affected the offered cuisine.

With its reputation, the club attracts the most famous trance-music DJs to come and groove here. The party starts at 5 PM and lasts till the morning.
