Know the Winners: KJSCE Symphony

We are just done with KJ Somaiya College of Engineering’s annual fest, Symphony 2016. And going by the star-studded headliners of the event, the college has come a long way in the last two decades. The college has gone through many significant changes and has become a lifestyle for all the Somaiyates.

The College held their Battle of the Bands in total gusty enthusiasm. It went on for hours and hours together, with Aneesh Nair, bassist for Coshish and Beatboxer atAflatunes, judging the event. Finally, the calling card went to Unholy Grudge.

Unholy Grudge is a Thrash/Death Metal band based in Mumbai. The band consists of Parth Shah (Vocals/ Guitars), Yash Gokhale (Lead Guitar), Runita Shirdhankar (Bass) and Jay Patil (Drums). The band was formed by primarily by four friends, but after going through several line-up changes, the band settled for the one above and are now in their writing and recording stage. For now, Unholy Grudge has released three singles, Curse of War, Obverse Psychology and Insidious Demise. Fast guitar riffs, strong basslines, blast beats, this band is a proof that old school thrash/death music is not extinct.

Renowned bands such as Rang, Sparsh, Euphoria, have performed at Symphony over the years. Also, artists such as Shankar Mahadevan, Sivamani, Aadesh Srivastava, Suraj Jagan, to name a few, have performed at Symphony. Symphony has been hosted by familiar faces such as Aayushmann Khurana, Eijaz Khan, VJ Jose Covaco.
