Govt Mule Pays Tribute To Floyd

Friday night’s Mountain Jam lineup closed out with Govt Mule who thrilled the audience with their sincere rendition of Pink Floyd‘s The Dark Side of the Moon – and extended their generosity with Wish You Were Here too.

The band displayed their reverence for Floyd and their dedication was obvious in the skill with which they recreated Pink Floyd’s 1973 masterpiece. Frontman Warren Haynes did a commendable job channeling David Gilmour’s calm vocals and perfect guitar playing, and his interplay with drummer Matt Abts, keyboardist Danny Louis and bassist Jorgen Carlsson was an experience not to be missed.

Beginning the show with the 1971 Meddley side two opus “Echoes,” Govt Mule then delved into nearly all of Dark Side, and then sent the audience into raptures playing most of 1975′s Wish You Were Here before revisiting “Echoes” and bringing the show to an end, justifiably with “Comfortably Numb.”

Govt Mule is due for another set at the Mountain Jam and so are the Black Keys and that ensures that audiences will not be disappointed.
