Countdown 2016 with Adam Lambert

Countdown 2016 with Adam Lambert

American singer Adam Lambert revealed that his performance at the 2016 countdown will celebrate "the entire human family in all its diversity"; two days post a petition was launched against the entertainer to remove him from the show's lineup.

The singer said in a press release that he is a "uniter, not a divider" and he believed in celebrating "the human heart and spirit". He also added that his show is "based primarily on new material, and it promises to be a thoughtful and sophisticated insight into the pursuit of happiness and self-worth".

In their petition, organizers had cited Lambert's controversial performance during the American Music Awards in 2009 and said that "his track record displays a flagrant disregard for the sensitivities of his audience - including whether or not children are watching". Until 6 pm on Friday, there were 14,435 signatories to the petition. To be aired on December 31, the countdown show, Celebrate 2016, will be held at The Float @ Marina Bay. It is being organized by MediaCorp.
