A ‘Sufiyana’ Evening With Wadali Brothers

The sheer magic of Sufi music not only touches but awakens one’s soul to transfer into another realm of divine bliss. With its origin from the Sufi poets, this genre has transcended eras and presented us with great talents in this modern age where all genus of music strive to coexist. One such elite name in the world of Sufi music is of Wadali Brothers – Puran Chand Wadali and Pyare Lal Wadali. Born into the fifth generation of musicians in Village Guru Ki Wadali in Amritsar and from humble beginnings, the brothers have come a long way to be the much-admired Sufi maestros.

After the initial training from their father, Thakur Das, the Wadali Brothers were groomed by the renowned musicians like Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Ustad Machchan Khan, Ustad Ashiq Ali Khan and Pandit Durga Das. The Wadali Brothers have given Bollywood their enchanting tunes with movies like Pinjar (2003), ‘Aye rangrez mere’ in Tanu Weds Manu (2011), 'Ik tu hi tu hi' in ‘Mausam’(2011), to name a few.

Their soulful rendering of gurubani, kaafi, ghazal and bhajan are not only a melodious treat to music enthusiasts but have earned them numerous admirers.  The celestial voice of Sufi saints Kabir, Guru Nanak, Ghulam Farid, Sultan Bahu resonates in the performances of the Wadali brothers. The Sufiyana feel in the music of Puran Chand Wadali and Pyare Lal Wadali carves a niche for them along with other talented musicians.

The Wadali brothers are once again set to spellbind the listeners once again on Saturday, 26th August, 2017 at the Siri Fort Auditorium, New Delhi. This enthralling musical feat is being organized under the banner of Yahavi Maestros and will begin at 7 in the evening.
